Polygon is considering a hard fork proposal to return about 70.49 million POL stolen in separate Polymarket and Binance incidents on October 29 and 30 to recovery wallets designated by the two platforms. The proposal would have Polygon PoS validators approve an upgrade setting five attacker-controlled addresses to zero and crediting verified recovery addresses at a fixed block height, with roughly 23.86 million POL linked to Polymarket and 46.63 million to Binance. Existing block lists have stopped the funds from moving but are described as a stopgap. The measure covers only native POL, not other tokens such as Binance’s stolen USDT already frozen by Tether, and requires governance approval, testing on Amoy and validator support before mainnet.
