Bank Negara Malaysia and the Bank of Thailand joined BLOOM, Singapore’s cross-border settlement initiative for stablecoins and tokenized deposits, on Friday, the Monetary Authority of Singapore announced. They become policymaker members alongside MAS, which launched the public-private project in October 2025. MAS also added nine participants, including Mastercard, Visa, Ripple and the World Bank Group, bringing the industry roster to 24. Maybank joined on Friday and already leads a ringgit pilot that BNM onboarded in February to test ringgit stablecoins and tokenized deposits for wholesale domestic and cross-border payments; Thailand’s Kasikornbank was already a member. Participants will work on cross-jurisdiction acceptance and settlement, network interoperability, and programmable controls such as identity checks and sanctions screening.
