Zcash Is About to Get 3x Faster With NU7, and ZEC Traders Are Already Buying In

Zcash’s developers have scheduled Network Upgrade 7, called NU7, to activate at block 3,543,405 around November 5, cutting the privacy-focused blockchain’s block time to 25 seconds from 75 and making payments three times faster. The change follows the December 2019 Blossom upgrade, which reduced block times from 150 seconds to 75. Faster blocks will not raise Zcash’s 21 million supply cap; the 1.5625 ZEC block reward will be split across three blocks, keeping issuance steady. ZEC traded near $1,300, up more than 15% over the past week, with a market cap around $22 billion, the ninth-largest crypto asset.
