Warhound emerged from stealth on October 22 with $200 million in seed funding and a $1.2 billion post-money valuation to develop genetically enhanced dogs for military and emergency work. CEO David Spirk leads it, a venture from Colossal Biosciences founder Ben Lamm and Anduril founder Palmer Luckey; Colossal plans gene editing in Belgian Malinois and German Shepherds and cloning via Viagen, while Anduril would supply equipment, sensors and software. Backers include Sequoia Capital, In-Q-Tel, ARK Invest and Franklin Templeton. No dogs have been born; first births are expected in early 2027, and Warhound hopes for service within two years while saying over 80% of U.S. military working dogs come from Europe and fewer than half fit after about three years.
