TRM Labs: KYC for AI Agents Must Start With the Human Behind Them

At Merge Madrid, TRM Labs executive Guillaume Rodenas said institutions should verify the person or company controlling an AI agent, using the agent’s transaction history to establish what it did on that principal’s behalf. North Korean hackers stole about $6.3 billion from Binance last week by deceiving employees with a fake job interview and exploiting an internal AI tool, and most of the money was moved within 20 minutes. TRM Labs estimates North Korea accounted for 85% of the value stolen in crypto hacks this year, as total losses reached a record $8.7 billion, largely driven by Binance.
