Stellar Activates Protocol 30 Bell Testnet, Begins Testing Quantum-Resistant Signatures

Stellar activated its Bell upgrade, also known as Protocol 30, on its testnet on Tuesday, November 3. The test network allows developers to test the upgrade’s smart-account features for enterprises and its post-quantum signature verification, aimed at improving transaction and security efficiency. A mainnet vote is scheduled for November 23, with the launch subject to community approval. Digital signatures let users authorize transactions and prove ownership and control of accounts; the upgrade is intended to prepare Stellar’s blockchain for risks from advancing quantum computing.
