Solana’s Alpenglow, its biggest network overhaul since 2020, goes live Wednesday

Solana is scheduled to activate its Alpenglow upgrade on Wednesday, replacing the voting system the Solana network has used since 2020. The planned change is aimed at reaching a finality time of roughly 150 milliseconds. Its rollout follows months of testing that included a failed migration and a rollback. Alpenglow refers to the upgrade itself, while the voting system is the part of Solana’s network that the upgrade will replace.
