Solana activated its Alpenglow consensus upgrade on Wednesday, replacing TowerBFT, and the token fell about 5% the following session after trading near $109 on upgrade day. Solana's official account said finality improved from about 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds, though that figure had not been independently measured; Anza was the engineering firm behind the upgrade. Since then, US spot Solana ETFs recorded $30.3 million in net outflows over five trading days through Oct. 22, while crypto-wide futures liquidations exceeded $816 million, 84.3% of them longs. SOL was down about 15% in October from an open near $118 and traded near $100.8, compared with Bitcoin's roughly 4% decline from near $80,500 on Saturday.
