President Donald Trump will use a White House event on Wednesday to highlight his administration’s efforts against foreign criminal networks that lure Americans into fraudulent cryptocurrency investments, a White House official said. The session focuses on cybercrime prevention, with Trump and cabinet members expected to cite government seizures of fraudulent crypto investment websites and address online impersonation scams. Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, FBI Director Kash Patel, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Attorney General Todd Blanche are expected to attend. An FBI report said Americans filed more than one million internet-scam complaints last year, a 17% increase from 2024, and reported the highest losses.
