Recursive launched Flint, an open-weight coding model, on Oct. 21, 2026, saying a small team built it in under four months with AI help. Flint uses a mixture-of-experts design with 39.8 billion parameters, about 2.5 billion active per token, and an Apache 2.0 license for commercial use; Recursive's Eureka Machine proposed, coded, and tested changes to its architecture, training, and inference software. Recursive reports Flint beat other mixture-of-experts models under 50 billion parameters on SWE-Bench Pro v2, Terminal-Bench 2.1, and SWE-Bench Verified, and ran above 125 tokens per second on an M4 Pro MacBook Pro. Independent evaluation is limited; Recursive did not disclose Flint's build cost despite a $410 million AWS deal on July 28, 2026, and $650 million raised.
