Ray Kurzweil builds an AI replica meant to speak for him after death

Futurist Ray Kurzweil, 78, and his company Kurzweil Technologies launched an artificial-intelligence replica named RAI with Praxis AI, which markets Human-First Digital Twins. The firms launched RAI on July 6, 2026, drawing on six decades of Kurzweil’s writing, interviews and memories, including 11 of his books, and it went live on July 10 during his talk at the UN’s AI for Good Global Summit. RAI runs on an unspecified Google language model and is designed to converse and learn, with Kurzweil planning for it to keep interacting with people after his death. Praxis says a review layer keeps accuracy above 97%, but the figure has not been independently verified.
