Qubic confirmed that an attacker drained 1,404 wallets and stole about 2.94 trillion QU between October 17 and 18. The network blamed insufficient randomness in wallet seed generation, not the Qubic protocol, affecting seeds created on iPhones and iPads in any browser before October 18, on Macs using Safari before that date, or through the Qubic iOS app before July 2025. Qubic’s validators, called Computors, halted transactions at tick 85,371,949; 87.1% of the drained funds remain frozen on the network, while 12.9% sent to MEXC was frozen there within about an hour. The issue is fixed in version 4.26.4, and resolution depends on the Computor quorum, with the Core team identifying affected identities and a Discord poll open.
