Binance and Polymarket want Polygon to approve a hard fork that would transfer about 70.49 million stolen POL tokens from five frozen attacker wallets to recovery wallets the companies control. The proposal, drafted by the affected companies and published Nov. 4 by Polygon Labs’ validator support team, would change Polygon’s software so that at a preset block the tokens move from four Polymarket-linked wallets holding about 23.86 million POL and a fifth holding about 46.63 million POL linked to Binance. The tokens were stolen Oct. 29 and were worth about $6.5 million at POL’s Oct. 29 price. The plan needs validator governance approval, and the companies must first prove ownership of the recovery wallets in writing.
