On Nov. 5, 2026, a member of Polygon Labs’ Validator Support Team published a Polygon Improvement Proposal calling for a hard fork on the Polygon PoS mainnet to recover about 70.49 million POL stolen from Polymarket and Binance. The plan would zero balances at four addresses linked to the Polymarket incident and one tied to Binance, then credit equivalent amounts to platform-verified recovery wallets; Polymarket accounts for 23.86 million POL and Binance’s address 46.63 million. Polygon block producers have already blocked transfers from those addresses, but the blacklist does not return the assets. A hard fork is a coordinated network upgrade, and the proposal says it would not create new POL or change total supply.
