North Korea Denies the Binance Hack, Calls FBI Investigation Fabricated

Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, called the FBI’s investigation into the $6.3 billion Binance hack a political provocation in remarks reported Tuesday, saying Pyongyang was closely monitoring the situation. North Korean state agency KCNA had called the theft claims a fabrication hours earlier. Crypto exchange Binance was drained on Oct. 29; on Oct. 31 the FBI blamed TraderTraitor, a North Korean group tied to the $1.5 billion Bybit theft in February 2025, and urged crypto firms to block linked wallets as stolen assets were swapped into Ethereum. TRM Labs and Chainalysis also linked the attack to North Korea, and Binance resumed withdrawals after covering about 95% of customer losses from reserves.
