Meta, OpenAI and Anthropic agents need a user's approval to log in with 1Password

On Thursday, 1Password introduced 1Password for Agents, a platform allowing personal AI agents from Meta, OpenAI and Anthropic to sign into user accounts after approval without letting the agent view or retain the password. The agent presents a unique digital key, 1Password verifies its identity, and the user is prompted on their own device with the requested account and reason; 1Password then fills in the credential, leaving the password in the vault. Nine more companies, including Perplexity and Browserbase, are building integrations. Anthropic’s Claude has used 1Password in the browser since July, and its Claude Duet agent, released Wednesday, comes next.
