Mastercard announced Stablecoin Security at Money20/20 USA on October 19, 2026, a service that lets banks check for fraud and sanctions exposure before their clients send stablecoin payments on public blockchains. The API uses payment data and blockchain analytics to trace the source of funds and assign a risk score before a transaction is authorized. Mastercard said it is not creating another payment network but supplying risk intelligence to banks. Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first partners; the service launches in North America, with global availability expected in 2027. The service follows Mastercard’s August acquisition of BVNK and an October 15 announcement that the two are combining fiat accounts, stablecoins, currency conversion and local payouts through one API.
