Protocol version 28, scheduled to arrive on October 16, had not been officially announced, though X users including Kim H Wang said it went live on October 17 and provided infrastructure for smart contracts and public decentralized applications. The token PI fell 12% over the past week to under $0.08, ranking 82nd among cryptocurrencies with about $880 million in market capitalization; another decline could push it out of the top 100.
