Hackers Are Running Apple's iOS on Android Phones for the First Time

Hobbyists have loaded Apple’s iOS 16 onto phones made by Xiaomi and Nothing and shared proof of the installations. The software barely functions on those devices, but the efforts indicate that Apple’s operating system is not necessarily tied to Apple’s own hardware. iOS 16 is Apple’s mobile software, and the tests involve placing it on handsets from two other companies. The demonstrations therefore suggest that Apple’s software can be run on non-Apple phones, though only with limited functionality.
