Germany’s Sparkassen launched cryptocurrency trading in their banking app on Monday, starting with five savings banks and a €0.99 fee per order. The initial banks are Frankfurter Sparkasse, Taunus Sparkasse, Sparkasse Karlsruhe, Sparkasse Rottal-Inn and Niederrheinische Sparkasse RheinLippe. DekaBank, the savings banks’ securities house, runs the service as Krypto powered by Deka; customers can trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Polygon without a securities account, and each Sparkasse decides whether to join. The German Savings Banks Association said 30 to 40 more banks should join monthly, aiming for a large share of interested Sparkassen in the first half of 2027, while Deka caps trades at €250,000, holds private keys in a shared omnibus wallet and charges no custody fee.
