Disney Layoffs Could Hit Thousands, With Some Managers Told to Cut 20%

Disney could eliminate thousands of jobs, with some managers reportedly asked to target 20% in annual cost savings. CEO Josh D’Amaro plans to reinvest part of those savings in content, parks, cruises and technology. The plan follows smaller cuts: about 1,000 positions were eliminated in April, several hundred more in July, and a few hundred in human resources and technology in September. Disney had about 231,000 employees at the end of fiscal 2025. It has also reaffirmed a target of double-digit growth in adjusted earnings per share for fiscal 2027.
