Michael Saylor, MicroStrategy’s chair, warned at São Paulo’s OranjeBTC Summit that AI-using hackers will target weakly protected software holding customer money, after about $6.3 billion was stolen from Binance last week. Saylor, whose company’s main asset is Bitcoin, said exchanges, banks and custodians should run advanced AI models repeatedly against their systems. Binance has replaced most of the missing funds from reserves; the intrusion began with a fake recruitment exercise and involved its internal AI tool being used against staff accounts, though phishing remained central. The FBI blamed North Korea, and TRM Labs linked the attack to TraderTraitor, which the FBI tied to a $1.5 billion Bybit hack in 2025.
