A Financial Action Task Force report dated Nov. 5 found over-the-counter cryptocurrency exchange and domestic transfer counters inside some scam compounds, where dealers arrange swaps directly rather than through regulated platforms that identify customers and report suspicious activity. In one case study, a group of blockchain addresses tied to Myanmar's KK Park was linked to more than $100 million in victim inflows, followed through laundering channels toward places where crypto becomes usable cash; Chainalysis earlier counted just under $100 million sent to two ransom addresses supplied by International Justice Mission, which were also linked to known scam wallets. Issued with principles for disrupting such flows, the report describes scam compounds as networked criminal infrastructure.
