Chainalysis, the Firm That Hunts Crypto Hackers, Got Hacked With AI Agents

Chainalysis, which investigates cryptocurrency theft and serves more than 100 banks, exchanges and government agencies, told customers that an outside attacker used AI-driven offensive methods to breach its systems and took user IDs, full names, email addresses and job-role labels. In a Friday announcement, it said case files, passwords, login codes and session tokens showed no sign of access and called the stolen data non-sensitive. Agentic AI is software that plans and carries out tasks on its own; Chainalysis has not said how much the AI did by itself. CEO Jonathan Levin blamed North Korea, and Chainalysis said the breach was unrelated to Binance’s $6.3 billion theft, which it is tracing.
