Blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs reported that 34 in-person casinos in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, received about $1.07 billion in cryptocurrency from January 1 to September 7, 2026, despite a government crackdown on scam compounds and international sanctions. Casinos linked to networks subject to US Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control sanctions accounted for $687 million, or 64 percent of the total. TRM said USDT on the TRON blockchain made up 99.9 percent of the crypto received.
