Bitcoin traded near $82,538 on Oct. 19, 2026, up 0.92% in 24 hours, while its Bollinger Bands—a volatility measure—narrowed to $5,368 apart, about 6.5% of its price and one of the tightest readings in two and a half years. The compression comes despite a turbulent week in global markets and leaves $80,000 as a key level; analyst Ted Pillows called it crucial support after it acted as resistance in May. Similar squeezes preceded large swings: one near $82,000 in May ended with a nearly 30% drop below $58,000, while another near $63,000 led to a more than 35% rise toward $87,000. Trading volume has weakened since June, and Pillows said Bitcoin needs to reclaim $84,500 for strong momentum.
