Arthur Hayes, chief investment officer of the family office Maelstrom, sold about $22.28 million in crypto from its directional book and confirmed the exit on October 24, 2026, citing macro and geopolitical risks and saying he would sit on the sidelines. The largest sale was 6,400 ETH worth $15.2 million; he also sold 14 million ENA for $2.76 million and 323,000 UNI for $2.24 million. The sales followed his October 15 call to go long bitcoin and ether and mid-October purchases of Aerodrome, Pendle and Zama tokens that Lookonchain data showed were sold at a roughly $33,000 loss. It came amid a broader market downturn and ahead of the Federal Reserve’s October 28 decision, after it raised rates to 3.75%-4%.
