Anthropic's Claude Duet agent buys with a virtual card and blocks ID leaks

Anthropic released a waitlisted research preview of Claude Duet on October 21, an AI agent that can make purchases for users while keeping their card and government ID numbers private. US Pro and Max subscribers receive access first. When shopping online, Duet uses Stripe’s Link wallet and Shopify’s Shop Pay; each transaction requires the user’s approval in Link, and a virtual card handles payment so the underlying card number is not exposed. The app runs on Claude Opus 5.5 across Android, iOS and claude.ai, and it cannot trade stocks or transfer money between accounts even if the user permits it. Use is free, but background checks count against plan usage limits, and Team and Enterprise plans are not yet supported.
